Jute

Jute  is a totally natural and biodegradable fibre obtained from teh jute plant. It is bvery strong and is also used to produce rope, sacks, floor covering and carpet backing.

• also known as hessian and burlap

Many of the jute products are lined with a thin LDPE lining making it spill proof.

Canvas

Modern canvas is made of cotton. It differs from other heavy cotton fabrics, such as denim, in being plain weave rather than twill weave and is extremely heavy-duty which is also used for making sails, tents, marquees and other functions where sturdiness is required.

• Great for screen print, heat transfer print and embroidery
• Very strong, but not heavy to hold

Cotton

Natural cotton has been used for thousands of years and is just as versatile and durable today as it has ever been, It's completely biodegradable; and we source it directly from a sustainable environment - helping farming communities and their crop. This fabric is the ideal surface for printing and can absorb dyes at high temperatures with ease.

Fairtrade Cotton & Canvas

The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on UK products as a guarantee that they have been certified against internationally agreed Fairtrade standards, set by the Fairtrade Labeling Organisation, International (FLO)Fairtrade

Organic Cotton

Before 1930, all cotton was organically grown. Non-organic cotton accounts for 22.5% of all insecticides and 11% of all pesticides used in agriculture through the world. By using this beautiful braid, fabricated from GOTS certified Organic Cotton either in its natural form or dyed using natural colours, you can make a small but significant difference to cotton production.

Juco

The resistance and strength of jute with the finish and versatiltiy of cotton. This unique natural blend is truly the best of both.

Combined together in ways are just as eco-friendly as the plants they come from, this is the hybrid of the material world. This is also considered "The High Society" fibre as used for bags in the foodhalls of Harrods and Selfridges of London.

REINFORCEMENT

Cardboard base/side reinforcement

For extra rigidity you may want to have cardboard or a reinforcement rubber plastic card placed at the bottom of your bag, or on the side. This can be stitched in side, or placed on the outside.  Double gusset

Double the gusset (side or bottom expandable section of the product) - this gives flexible rigidity, and is stitched to make rigidity invisible and stylish. Edging detail for bags, aprons, oven gloves and teatowels. Piping is a great way to add border colours to frame the product.
